To prevent this from happening, all of the GACP Talk Section are moderated by members of the Discussion Team through specially developed message board system. Your messages will be posted within a few days after moderation.. The Discussion Team has spent many hours clarifying, to the best of our ability, how we will decide whether a post is acceptable or not. No doubt, we will continue to refine these policies as we learn from experience and receive feedback from others. It is our hope that the moderating policies below help ensure open, honest, and civil discussions. Some of these policies relate to the type of content that can be discussed, while others relate to kind of language that is considered 'civil' or not. Of course language is a very complex tool of and there is no perfectly quantitative or universally accepted method of deciding what is considered civil. If you have comments about these policies, please feel free to visit "Contact Us" General Policy We ask you to present your ideas in a concise and well-thought out way that does not require: personal attacks, insults, profanity, racism, sexism or any other form of malice. The Talk Board is a community, and the posters, regardless of their point of view, deserve civility, so we ask that you post accordingly. 1. Online Identities Users must register in order to post on the boards with their real name or nick name, country and email address, but the email address does not appear for public view as it is just contact info for the administrator. We will do our best to protect everyone's anonymity in hopes of encouraging people to speak freely without worrying about social or professional repercussion. Postings that reveal the identity of another user will be deleted. Online member names that are racist, offensive or derogatory towards a specific group of people will not be permitted. 2. Personal Attacks and Name Calling To help maintain that civil line, we ask that posters do some self-moderating before posting. Don't attack people. Keep your posts restricted to disagreement of opinions. Personal attacks, racial slurs, and postings that are hateful, obscene, slanderous, violent, abusive, insulting, threatening or harassing will not be accepted. Postings that contain any of the above will either be deleted entirely or have the offensive portion edited out. Behind the Scenes (or what we do) All posts require moderator approval before being added to the site. There are a number of moderators and the manager. We try to clear all posts as quickly as possible. We want the board to be as dynamic and up to date as possible. So, if a mod is on a computer at the same time as a poster, the post will appear almost immediately. Almost without exception, posts will appear within 12 hours of being submitted. If you feel it's taking a long time for your post to appear there usually are reasons for the delay. This is how it works: The vast majority of the posts received by the moderators are approved without any problem. However, sometimes people post really good ideas but a few sentences of the post are inappropriate. When this happens, we edit the inappropriate parts out of the post. If a post has been edited by a moderator you will see at the bottom of the post: edited by GACP Press on January 24 2003, 12:37. If you feel that your post has been unnecessarily edited, send an email to mods@gacp.org, or to the editing moderator. If a post is completely inappropriate because it goes against the Moderating Policies it will be deleted. Moderators will save copies of the deleted posts, so if you feel your post was unjustly deleted, send an email to mods@gacp.org and we will address your concerns. Sometimes the mods consider posts to be borderline--we're unsure if they should be deleted or not. When this happens the policy is for the mods to "vote" on the post. Accordingly, the post is approved, edited or deleted. This takes time, so to avoid delay, read your stuff over before you post. Disclaimer: The views expressed on the Talk Section are those of the writers and do not necessarily represent GACP nor its owners. If you read anything that offends you in any way please write to gacp.org and draw our attention to such. GACP.org accepts absolutely no liability for any or all of the views herein. Privacy Policy We do not allow users to put their personal email address or telephone number on the message. You can communicate through the manager of the website only. Please understand the situation. Content Usage We show some good sentences or paragraphs with their original sources after getting permission. Last updated January 27, 2003
