Features lots of information and questions for cult members that I'm sure go unanswered.
Of interest is this summary of the groupsLee was involved with before becoming Korean Messiah No. 8750. It seems he wasn't always the Messiah.

Google translation from this Yahoo Groups page for German Shinchonji.

I came across the link on page 41 of this PDF of a German newsletter.

Quote
The people in the world live up to 100 years. They are born and eventually they die. But the children of God, born of God's seed
are to live for ever and there is no parting with them through death. These children are not valuable?

Whoever does not believe, can not be a believer. Jesus sowed the seed of God (Mt 13:24, Mk 4:14), and we also sow the seed of God. Apostle Paul said, he
suffered pangs of birth (Gal 4:19), and he tries to satisfy his children (1 Corinthians 3:2). Also, he called his son Timothy (1 Timothy 1:1-2). Paul was not even
married and he was a man all this, that he suffers pangs of birth or breast feeding the child was meant spiritually. He described his son as a disciple,
which does not mean a carnal son, but a spiritual, by being born of the seed of God. In James 1:18 it is written: Who by the word of truth is born is called the first fruits.

People grieve so much about their dead children or siblings, even though they already knew that they will die some point. Yet no one is above sorrow, though a child of God who is born of the seed of God and can live forever, lost. Is not this a proof that he has no faith as God's family? How can one be so carefree, even though his child was born through suffering the pangs of birth, dies or is lost? He must have a heart of the hireling.

If even a small child is no longer visible, we must do all in effort to find it. We SCJ saints are different from the parishioners of the traditional communities. Because we are all born with the seed of God by suffering the birth pangs. From the first meeting, we have a lot of time and effort for these children to give birth, even while they're Center training that and Training new members have been through. When I see (the master), that such precious children go fall and lost, my heart is breaking. How can I with shame and embarrassment watch the sky? How can someone who is not the Holy care, be a worker of God? I can those who are lost and wandering around somewhere, do not forget. Jesus said: You look for his lost sheep everywhere in the mountains and in the valleys (Mt 18:12-14).

And the father is his son with unreturned hold the best robe, and put a ring on his finger and a feast prepared for him (Luke 15). We need to think about how we now behave. If someone can not see or no reason not to the church comes to the district manager must first take care of him. He must be the right word to convince that he comes back. But if he still does not come, he must visit with the department head to the lost. But even if this does not work, have the church leaders and Cheondosa visit him. If he still will not come to the tribe leader must take care of it. If he still does not come to church, the reason of his absence, including its core Esse and phone number will be forwarded to the head office.

This saint has lost to the kingdom of heaven and eternal life to the chosen faith in SCJ. He learned on Mount Zion, the new song. After graduation, he took part in the training new members. If such does not want to come to church, he must have a reason. If it lacks faith and lack knowledge, we have to visit him and bring him to the knowledge. If it is not possible to visit him at home, we have other ways to find out. We have the best education in the world, namely the revealed word. Why we can not bring him to the knowledge?

The Holy Spirit, the groom with the bride (pastor) along the child conceived. If the child is then not of the Holy Spirit and of his bride? How can we neglect this child? We do the works of God are neither foreigners nor hirelings (laborers). We are the Bride of the Holy Spirit, and we give birth to his children. let it cause us not to sin or someone leaves us. really Let us build God's kingdom. The District Manager must be aware of and be aware of their task they accomplish. Then the grace of God and will of Jesus Christ be with you forever.

Last week I caught my first real glimpse of SCJ recruiters in action. Oh I've seen plenty of Mannam recruiters, but this was my first time to witness SCJ members recruiting for SCJ proper without the smokescreen of a volunteering or world peace front group. Well the second actually if you count the time an oldisg lady thrust a SCJ card at me 10 meters away from and 5 minutes prior to the meeting point for the first Mannam event I attended.  Anyway, they were out in force at my place of work - the East Gate of Keimyung University - giving out Candy and taking phone numbers. Interesting that one of my former students said on Facebook that they were chased students who took photographs of them and made them delete the pictures, but when I asked if I could photograph them they said yes (after a twenty second closed discussion):

Despite accusations of distortion, Shinchonji keeps on attracting converts

Quote
When Caritas Lee Seung-hye set out on a series of Bible studies with her mother, she was given an interpretation that was very different to the one she remembered from school.

The Holy Spirit came to someone secret, she was told, someone who was not any one of Jesus’ apostles.

This interpretation was provided by Shinchonji, Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (SCJ) a minority religious denomination which typically kicks off with a free Bible course and an exam.

At this stage Caritas had no idea her brother had converted from Catholicism to Shinchonji.

“I tried to find the lies and tricks in Shinchonji to catch my brother out,” says Caritas, who lives in Seoul’s now infamous Gangnam district. “But he refuted my evidence as a test of his faith to Shinchonji and we’re no longer able to talk with one another.”

Since that time, her family has remained divided. Caritas’ brother no longer speaks to her mother either.

Noting its suspect teachings and the damage done to her family, Caritas then became an anti-SCJ campaigner.

Shinchonji, meaning ‘new Heaven and new Earth’ was founded in 1980 by Lee Man-hui, whom followers believe to be the ‘returned Jesus.’

Referencing Revelation (7:2): ‘Then I saw another Angel come up from the East, holding the seal of the living God,’ SCJ claims that ‘the East’ is Korea and that ‘another Angel’ is CSJ founder Lee.

SCJ also toys with Revelation (7:4) in claiming that the 144,000 sealed members of the tribe of the children of Israel are instead the members of Shinchonji which make up the 12 tribes of the group across South Korea. Today, they operate more than 300 mission centers.

Father Paul Han Min-taeg, assistant director of Evangelization and Education at Suwon diocese, says that SCJ is little more than a heretical Christian sect, one of an estimated 40 or so in South Korea.

“It denies the Holy Trinity and deifies its founder Lee, dazing its followers by distorting the prophecies in Revelation,” he says. “With its apocalyptic view, it brainwashes followers and urges them to go out and lure followers in a variety of ways.”

In recent years, the South Korean press, blog postings and confused expatriates writing online have tried to piece together exactly what SCJ represents and how it works. Many have pointed to an affiliation to a group called Mannam, a seemingly non-religious organization with an army of volunteers who typically encourage the uninitiated to take part in trips and activities across the country. Many foreigners have joined in and say they have had a good time without any hint of proselytizing.

Yoo Jung-hoon, who like Caritas is an anti-SCJ campaigner, says that the group also preys on Catholics in the belief that many don’t know the Bible well enough to internally dismiss some of Shinchonji’s more outlandish claims.
“For them, luring Catholics is a piece of cake,” he says.

Veronica Lee Eun-soo, 40, who gave a pseudonym to protect her identity, admits she was one of those easy targets.

“Without any knowledge of the Bible, the teachings in the Shinchonji Bible study looked marvelous and I appreciated this God-given chance,” she says. “While studying there I felt I was a chosen one.”

She says that now, many of SCJ’s claims – that all angels are humans and that the Bible is written in metaphors that only Lee can understand – seem ridiculous.

“But I suddenly came to believe in the ridiculous,” she says.

A Shinchonji official who did not give a name says that SCJ is misunderstood. It has never taught that Lee is Jesus, he added, although many of the SCJ faithful believe that to be the case “as they love him very much.”

“We are people of God of a different denomination, just like Baptists or Methodists," he said. "But some other Christians tell malicious lies against us because more and more Christians are converting to Shinchonji.”

Some links related to MBC's 2007 expose on Shinchonji from the cult's perspective

http://correctunderstandingofshinchonji.wordpress.com/2014/05/31/the-lies-of-mbc-pd-notes-distorted-broadcast/
Quote
To all the members of Shinchonji Church of Jesus around the world and to all the souls of the martyrs! Let us appeal to God regarding the false charges leveled against us. MBC PD Note broadcast lies about Shinchonji Church of Jesus.

MBC PD Note broadcast their false program twice: once on May 8, 2007 and again on December 25, 2007. Their show, which was entitled “Shinchonji’s suspicious mysteries,” concluded that Shinchonji is a cult. They attempted to sabotage Shinchonji, which is God’s kingdom of righteousness, by broadcasting false information.

When MBC PD Note interviewed us, we recorded the interviews and kept our own copies. MBC’s broadcast, however, presented a distorted version of reality. In addition to MBC, there are also conversion education pastors blaming us for causing people to run away from their families. They claim that we have confined and assaulted people. The truth is, however, that those were the actions of the conversion educators themselves. We, in Shinchonji, send official statements to our members once or twice per year discouraging them from running away from their families, getting divorced, dropping out of school, or quitting their jobs. We have obeyed these commands ourselves and are speaking out regarding absolute righteousness and fairness.

To reveal how MBC PD Note has distorted the truth, we are even willing to go around and show every Korean household the true footage we took at the same time. We will show both the true and false versions of the footage side by side so people can compare them. Even if the whole world continues to believe the lies of MBC PD Note, lies are still lies. Lies are not truth, and the PD Note programs are lies.

The following is an account of how the current situation began. One former member of Shinchonji was expelled from among us after he betrayed us and committed some serious sins. After leaving Shinchonji, that person united with the conversion education pastors. Together they began to give MBC false information in an effort to tear Shinchonji apart and convert our congregation members to their own churches. Without verifying the authenticity of that information, MBC PD Note immediately broadcast it to the entire nation.

As soon as the false programs were aired, several Christian and social media organizations scrambled to interview people from Shinchonji to verify the details of MBC’s report. Ultimately, those media organizations reported several times that the MBC PD Note broadcast was full of lies. Even the police and prosecutors investigated Shinchonji and never found anything suspicious. In spite of these reports, none of the people responsible for MBC PD Note nor those who gave false information have repented. They continue to resist correcting their programs on air. Although Shinchonji has strength, we would like to resolve this problem justly through the courts, rather than resolving it by force.

One of the most controversial scenes in the MBC PD Note broadcast showed a trip by some Shinchonji members to a park. Shinchonji began at the current location of Seoul Grand Park in Gwacheon, South Korea. The Shinchonji Cultural Department went to that park to record some footage of the cherry blossoms. Should that be a problem? Is it a sin? Why would the park be there if visiting it were a sin? Are all the people who visit the park lambasted for their crimes? In fact, the person who suggested that we record some footage of the cherry blossoms was one of the betrayers who fed false information to MBC. She was very busy encouraging her fellow office workers to pose for the sake of the video footage. No one really thought anything of her going to the park and following her suggestions.

Although the Republic of Korea guarantees the freedom of religion, MBC PD Note broadcast their show about us as if we are urging people to run away from their families. Their report, however, was decidedly false. A few of the many Shinchonji congregation members have been assaulted and confined by their own parents because of their parents’ misunderstandings regarding Shinchonji. Some of these people have indeed left their homes simply because they could no longer bear being assaulted by their own families. If it was wrong for them to leave their homes, should we consider all those who have ever left their homes to enter a monastery or a nunnery as runaways? What about people who left their homes to enter a Buddhist temple to follow Siddhartha? Did they runaway from their homes too? Please answer us, judges and prosecutors! Why do you call this sort of behavior “running away” only when it involves the members of Shinchonji?

If the truth be told, the conversion education pastors provoked the abusive behavior from the parents of Shinchonji’s young adults that forced them to leave home. Those pastors misled the parents into thinking that their children were being held prisoner in hell. This is how conversion pastors have incited parents to force their own children into conversion education. The pastors have induced parents to confine their children at home, to assault them, to force their children to drop out of school, and to quit their jobs. They even encourage parents to send their children to mental institutes if the children refuse to give up their faith and obey. This is why some young adults were forced to run away from their homes. The conversion education pastors are responsible for sabotaging families and for creating hostility between children and their parents.

To the judges overseeing this case! To whom else should we appeal these false charges against us if you do not see this case clearly and exonerate us? We are confident in your ability to reveal the truth. We will not be able to thank you enough if your decision leads to the correction of these lies on the air. We are so angry and frustrated by these lies that we are about to explode. It is as if some thieves who stole something from a house have somehow placed the blame on the owner of the house himself, saying the owner stole it.

One man left a place of abomination and falsehood to join Shinchonji. Later, however, he was expelled from Shinchonji because he sinned out of his own greed and lust for power. Now, he has united with the conversion education pastors in an effort to destroy Shinchonji, which is practicing righteousness and fairness according to God’s will. There is no doubt that his sins will prove to be a heavy burden on him. This person, along with the conversion education pastors, fed false information to MBC’s PD Note in an attempt to convert Shinchonji members to their own churches. The pastors who are responsible for MBC’s false broadcast have sinned, and these sins will be a heavy burden for them. Furthermore, those who believed the false reports, united with the conversion educators, and decided to broadcast lies have also sinned. These sins will not be forgotten.

Another controversial scene from the broadcast surrounds a New Year’s meeting where PD Note claimed that the chairman of Shinchonji was selling people tickets to eternal life. In reality, the chairman of Shinchonji gave some young adults from the church the traditional Korean New Year’s gift of money and a small notebook while exchanging New Year’s greetings. He also wrote down a few short comments with Bible verses inside the notebooks. Some of these well-wishes included the word “eternal life.” Can this be considered selling tickets to eternal life? If wishing for someone to receive eternal life is wrong, then all the Bibles in the world must be destroyed and people must be punished for reading them. What does this have to do with freedom of religion? This is religious persecution. Judges and prosecutors should not violate the law, and we believe firmly that you will bring us justice.

In relation to the report of MBC PD Journal - Dubious Secret of Shinchonji
Quote

To whom concerns Shinchonji as a cult and has misunderstanding

Are the 50-minute broadcastings reliable aired twice in May and December 2007?
Here is the truth. It was a totally discriminated and distorted broadcasting.
It was derived from the false pastor and the one who went out of Shinchonji from sinning to damage SCJ and they gave false information on 14 different things and PD Journal broadcasted for two days for 50 minutes each.
Upon the broadcasting, The ministry of Culture and Travel and police department as well as prosecution office had a close investigation on the matter.
The investigation covered from my birth to my hometown, village, workplace, school, church and even the siblings and friends and found nothing coincided with the accusations.

As a result of the investigation of the prosecution department, it was found 'No Charge of Suspicion'
According to the result, PD Journal admitted their discriminated and distorted broadcasting and aired corrected counterargument. The damage that SCJ got from the false broadcasting could never be repayable not even by selling the whole MBC company. This distorted program was broadcasted twice for the duration of 50 minutes each but the correcting announcement was done only with a mere comment for a brief moment so how could people know of the truth behind all this?

Therefore, I decided to write a few words to let the people of the nation know of the real truth, who has been deceived too. My tears are like blood shedding from my eyes bearing the accusations against me.
I pledge before you people of different parts in politics, society and religion to believe the fact that it was found 'No Charge of Suspicion'
The false pastor and PD Journal made people of the nation believe false information which makes people the victim too.
Therefore, SCJ will not tolerate any further malicious spread of the false information based on the MBC PD Jounrnal.

SCJ is the City of the truth, the Church of unprecedented righteousness and the True enlightenment doing all the right things to be the sage king, and doing the utmost active volunteer work in the country and doing its best to achieve the world peace and independence through heavenly culture which has been proven and acknowledged through many events.

Religion is the godly teaching which is the highest knowledge of all and SCJ is with the holy spirit of the truth who mastered the bible.
SCJ is renewing and loving everything regardless of nation, race and religion with the work of God.
SCJ never behaves in a way that causes disharmony leading to a war but working hard towards the world peace and independence of the whole mankind.

Shinchonji Church of Jesus and MBC’s PD Note
Quote
Shinchonji Church of Jesus (SCJ) is different from other churches. The word SCJ preaches is not from men but from God and Jesus (Jn 6:45; Rv 1:-22:). Our church name, Shinchonji Church of Jesus—Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, was prophesied in the Bible (Rv 21:1; Rv 15:5). SCJ is not worn-out and corrupt like the rest of the world’s churches. SCJ has been created by God according to the Bible (Rv 7; Rv 14). SCJ has mastered the Bible and teaches the revealed word clearly (Rv 6; Rv 10) by answering who, when, where, what, why and how (R 1:2; Rv 14:3; Rv 22:16). SCJ members believe and act according to the Bible. This is Shinchonji Church of Jesus. Since we are God’s creation, anyone who tries to harm us will be forced to surrender (Is 54:15). We have repeatedly proposed public debates with the groups who continue to call us a cult without reason, but they have never responded to our requests. They are afraid because they have no evidence to support their arguments. In the end, their refusal to respond to us means they have forfeited and SCJ is victorious after all. They should remember that the Bible says a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him (2 Pt 2:19).

MBC PD note

Last year, the South Korean TV station MBC aired an episode of their program PD Note that was entirely biased and designed to slander SCJ by distorting the truth. Why did they do that? Some people claimed that the government was involved, but this was just a rumor. In fact, the producers of MBC’s PD Note simply trusted the information they received from an informant without doing anything to confirm‍ it. They took everything the informant said at face value and created the program to tell their own story.

This is what we witnessed concerning the MBC PD Note episode about Shinchonji. MBC’s informant was a man named Mr. Shin, who used to be in Shinchonji. He was expelled from Shinchonji for attempting to lead a coup d’état and install himself as the chairman of Shinchonji. Since then, he has united with a group of pastors running conversion education programs designed to destroy Shinchonji convert its members to their denomination. Together, Mr. Shin and the conversion education pastors lied about Shinchonji to the staff of MBC. These people believed their lies because they belong to the same denomination. MBC PD Note created a distorted report about SCJ because they failed to confirm‍ whether their informants were telling the truth. Now, however, the truth has been revealed.

Mr. Shin claims to be a Christian, yet he betrayed Jesus and his word because of his desire to be higher. As part of his failed attempt at seizing control in SCJ, Mr. Shin proclaimed that SCJ congregation members must pray in the name of the SCJ Chairman instead of in Jesus’ name. He also claimed believers must drink the Chairman’s blood instead of the blood of Jesus. Doesn’t this make Mr. Shin the antichrist (1 Jn 2:18-19)? The pastors who have united with Mr. Shin are sending perfectly sane people to be confined at a mental institute until they agree to stop attending SCJ. They have even condoned the actions of a believer who murdered his wife just because she refused to stop attending SCJ and change her denomination.

Thus far, SCJ has not sought vengeance for the sins of this betrayer and the false pastors working with him or for the lies MBC broadcast about SCJ members. We believe in the Lord and are obedient to him. Jesus promised that vengeance belonged to him and he will certainly repay every wrongdoing (Heb 10:30). In fact, even if we were to seek reparations, all of MBC’s assets would be inadequate to because their lies were so great. We in SCJ believe, however, that God will repay them for what they have done.

MBC is a public broadcasting company funded by Korean taxpayers. They have abused their status by spreading lies over the air and encouraging their viewers to believe lies. This is no longer just about SCJ. They have aired false reports about mad cow disease, stem cell research, and others. These reports are harmful to the Korean government and the Korean people. To what laws does MBC adhere? Who ordered them to air unjust and unrighteous reports? If they still have a conscience, they will air full apologies and retractions. They should work to erase all the lies they have spread on the Internet and they should shut down their entire operation with hearts full of repentance.

So many believers have seen the distorted broadcasting of MBC’s PD Note; so many people have listened to the false pastors and the betrayer who left SCJ. Although the courts sided with SCJ, we hope that such a thing will never happen again. God’s victory is SCJ’s victory.
