Shinchonji Protest CBS TV HQ - April 29, 2016
« on: April 30, 2016, 01:10:47 PM »
It's been too long since I've had the good pleasure of hanging out with my Shinchonji friends, and they did not disappoint. Here are a few random initial ramblings...

The stated goal of the event was to destroy CBS TV over its less-than-flattering coverage that peaked last year with the airing of an 8-part expose.

The behaviour at today's event is hardly the kind of behaviour that would give CBS executives and producers reason to rethink the idea that Shinchonji is a cult. I can't exactly imagine CBS's CEO calling in those responsible and yelling: "Who is the idiot who thought those guys outside are in a cult?!" As an intimidation tactic, it was also doomed to failure and could only lead to more of the kinds of reports that SCJ (and all cults) are allergic to.

The real reason I believe was to focus attention outward ala North Korea style ala George Orwell's 2 Minutes of Hate style from 1984. All that exhausting and dehydrating yelling and screaming is I think best described as Orwell's 2 Minutes of Hate with 4 hours tacked on at the end.

A former member recently mentioned that some recent predictions by the leader failed to eventuate - now there's a surprise. Consequently, CBS TV offers a nice juicy enemy to help redirect any internal grumblings at. It has been over a year since CBS aired it's report. It does seem a little odd to wait a year to protest such a "travesty".

Whatever the real reason or reasons, members protested in style. 2 Minutes of Hate? Today's event was 3 Plus hours of hate - all without rest and without much water on an unseasonably hot late April afternoon. Members were urged/ordered to not bring much water to limit toilet breaks. And I didn't see too many water bottles.

Earlier in the week, CBS somehow (I kind of know how^) obtained leaked instructions from SCJ to its members regarding a huge protest planned for Friday, April 29. Here's a taste of what went done beginning with a CBS report the day before the protest showing the leaked communications.
